About the Founder

Deidre Behrend

Growing up in Milwaukee, WI, Deidre always had a passion for  teaching children. After completing her degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 2014 she went on to become a preschool teacher. She believes in teaching children through art, music movement, and most of all play!

She loved the work she did with children but over the years found her true passion was teaching their parents. In 2019 she began her journey to become an ICEA certified childbirth educator. Along the way she trained to become a lactation educator as well. 

Over and over again Deidre noticed that the most confident parents were those with strong support systems, but she also noticed that communities for parents, especially new parents were lacking. So she embarked on a journey to create a space for parents that they can keep coming back, to in every stage of their child's life.

The Family Garden is just that. A place for parents to come back to in each new season of parenting to learn and, most importantly to grow.
